for the 2012 South East Police Motorcycle Training Seminar
and Safety Trials
The 2012 South East Police Motorcycle
Training Seminar and Safety Trials will take place May 2-5,
2012 from 8 am - 4 pm at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel &
Casino, 1 Seminole Way Hollywood, Florida 33314.
The Safety Trials is an annual police
motorcycle skills event that benefits the Concerns of Police
Survivors (COPS) and the Muscular Dystrophy charities. COPS
is a national organization that benefits the children of
police officers who are killed in the line of duty. This
event is a large fundraiser for these charities and is also
the largest police motorcycle safety skills event held in
the Southeastern United States. It attracts a large segment
of the police community as well as the civilian public. The
training courses are set up to enhance the daily riding
skills of the motorcycle officer. The courses are intricate
and very demanding and are used in the Police Motorcycle
Enforcement Rider School. . Certified Police Motorcycle
Instructors will be monitoring the course for instructional
and safety purposes and all competitors will receive a
Certificate of Attendance from The Florida Public Safety
Institute. There will be three training days available
before the Safety Trials starting Wednesday, May 2, 2012, 8
a.m. to 4 p.m. Also, there will be an optional "Fun Run"
that simulates the motorcycle officer's daily riding skills.
Riders must participate in the Fun Run and the Slow Ride to
compete for MR. Rodeo.
On Thursday and Friday, May 3rd and 4th from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., certified motorcycle instructors will provide training to any registered participant at the competition location, exact hours to be announced. This training will focus on safety procedures when maneuvering in a slow competition. Any participant who attends the provided training will receive a training certificate from The Seminole Police Department. Entry Fee: There is an individual entry fee of $40.00. The team entry fee has been eliminated. PLEASE PRE-REGISTER BY MAIL. Go to the ENTRY FORM section in order to print off an application form. We strongly recommend sending in your banquet money at the time of your registration.
