2008 SOUTH EAST POLICE MOTORCYCLE TRAINING

The 19th Annual South East Police Motorcycle Rodeo (SEPMRC) was held April 9-12, 2008 in the City of Pompano Beach.  The weather was outstanding, the competition fierce and overall a major success!

This event began in 1989 when a few motor guys from the Broward Sheriff's Office, Fort Lauderdale and Pompano Beach Police Department decided to create a new event following the lead from the officer's in Washington D.C. who created the grand daddy of competition the Mid-Atlantic Safety Trials.
Three goals were established when the committee was formed and each goal is still being obtained today.

1) Increase the overall skill for motor officer's which will provide additional safety to the motorcycle officer and a cost saving factor to the agencies with injury/workman's compensation costs.

2) Create a long lasting network and friendship with motor officer's nationwide.
This network would be used while sharing training ideas, operating procedures and policy and procedure comparison's  just to name a few.

3) And most important to raise financial support for selected charities; For the SEPMRC Concerns of Police Survivors is the selected group and for Harley-Davidson Motor Company the M.D.A.

Since the inaugural event and every year since the Harley-Davidson Motor Company and Fort Lauderdale Harley-Davidson have been tremendous supporters of the SEPMRC.  Every year they have donated a New H.D. Sportster to the committee for our annual raffle.

One hundred percent of all funds collected in ticket sales go directly to charity absolutely zero operating expenses are funded with revenue collected from ticket sales!

2) All competitor results (pdf).

This year we were very fortunate to have 103 police motorcycle riders, 21 different police and sheriff's departments traveling from Virginia, Maryland, New Jersey and South Carolina.

Our 20th Annual event we guarantee will be the best ever so start planning now for April 15-18, 2009. We received positive comments about this years site location and hotel so we have already decided that next years event will be at the same location.

The members of the rodeo committee want to truly thank everyone who participated and assisted with making this event a success.

This year we were able to donate $15,000.00 to Concerns of Police Survivors and $2,000.00 to M.D.A. and that would not have been possible without you!

Until next year ride well and be safe.
